Taking a step back... January & February

Well, since it is May, looks like I will have to go back and do a quick review of the past months...

January was a busy month since it follows the holidays. I was lucky to meet up with the girls and have a few lunch dates. Dawson and I also got to "travel" to Lakeland for my businesses regional conference. I was so happy and excited to have Dawson join me! He's never been to one of my conferences before! We had a great time rooming with our friends Barb and Rick and even got to enjoy some recognition when we walked the stage since I had earned a certain sales goal in a set period of time.

This isn't the best photo, but we really didn't
take too many photos that weekend :)

I had also started being a bit more creative around the house and started taking some sewing and crafting classes. This was sparked by my trip to the paint your own pottery place we went for Diva Day. I don't think I had posted what I had made there.

This was the platter I decorated on Diva Day. You can serve food on it, but I think I'd rather hang it on the wall.

On one of my trips to the Joann's clearance rack, I found this cute pattern for a stuffed animal and decided to make it for my niece. She absolutely loved it but I didn't stitch the eyes on too well so her poor owl is now blind... oh well, this is what it looked like when he was just finished.

Not too bad for my first attempt. He was a little rough though.

I ended up sewing up a few more things in class and at home including:

A banded pillow case,

a new jersey knit fold over skirt/dress,

and a cute sewing machine cover!

Needless to say I was quite happy with my first few attempts at making some pretty items without seriously injuring myself somehow. I'd love to take a few more classes so I can learn how to follow some more difficult patterns and make some household items like drapes and such. Just one more thing on my to-do list!

February was another busy month filled with jewelry shows and fun with friends. We spent Valentine's day at home and made a fancy meal together. It's not often we break out some wine, good cheese and a few steaks, but it made for a great night! Dawson's birthday quickly followed up and this year we chose to spend  it at home... with no cake... but you know me, I can't go without cake! So what do I do? CUPCAKES!!!

Dawson humored me and blew out the candle.
I think he even ate a cupcake :)

February also brought back kickball. Yup. Kickball. Dawson and I had not played in over two years but in an effort to branch out, meet some more people our age, we signed up and played in a league in Lutz. It was fun - my team even dressed up as Dawson's team for theme night! It was pretty funny!

Stanky Legz meet the Musty Armpits...

So that was January and Febuary! What a blur!!!
